The Hoover Orchestra program encompasses four levels of string orchestra training. In the Beginning class, students learn to read music, basic technique on a stringed instrument and have two major performances throughout the year. In the higher levels, students learn the fundamental of music theory, to sight read, compose and develop higher listening skills, as stated in the National Orchestra Standards. The students also acquire overall higher musical technique while enjoying making music. As an advanced student, we perform for a variety of events such as Music in the Parks and Magic Music Days at Disneyland.
Instructor - Orchastra
My name is Rori Launspach and after teaching band for 7 years, I am thrilled to be Hoover's new orchestra teacher. I studied violin in my hometown at UC Santa Cruz and after graduating, continued to pursue music education. In 2010, I received my teaching credential from San Jose State University including student teaching with the Hoover orchestras! I am passionate about working with young people and feel lucky to be part of their musical journey.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially in the outdoors. We love to go camping, skiing and hiking. When I'm feeling extra adventurous, I like to go salsa dancing. Students will find that I listen to a variety of different music anywhere from classical to Pop. Favorite artists include The Beatles, Fall Out Boy, B.O.B, Taylor Swift, and the list goes on.
I enjoy building relationships with students and keeping in touch with them over the years. I'm always in awe of Hawk talent and dedication, and I look forward to seeing what we accomplish this year!
